Standlee Premium Western Forage Baled Alfalfa Hay is a premium quality food for cattle and horses. The alfalfa has been grown to the proper maturity then harvested and sun-dried to the right moisture level. The forage is then baled, compressed, and banded. Standlee Premium Western Forage chooses alfalfa forage that is low in sugar, moderately high in protein, and high in calories and digestible fiber, making it beneficial to feed to horses that are growing, are underweight, have sensitivities to carbohydrates, have gastric ulcers, are late in pregnancy, and lactating mares.
Standlee Baled Alfalfa Hay promotes slower eating by stimulating chewing and minimizing digestive upset. Providing the horse with the natural forage length mimics natural grazing. The bales are easy to handle, store, and inspect for quality.
Feeding Instructions:
- Weigh the amount of forage provided to each horse to ensure you are feeding the proper amount (about 1.5-2.5% of your horse’s body weight). This is especially important with baled and compressed forage since similar volumes of different forages vary in weight.
- Cut the bands on compressed bales 8 to 10 hours before feeding to allow the bale to expand to avoid overfeeding.
- Gradually replace existing hay with Standlee forage over a week to 10-day period. Replace existing hay on a 1-to-1 basis with Standlee forage.
- Never feed moldy or insect-infested forage to horses.
- Always provide free access to fresh, clean water.
